Sweeeeeeet Treats

By Krystle Wagner

As temperatures heat up, so do sweet tooth cravings.

From hard-served ice cream to creamy frozen yogurt, local ice cream stores have enough options to keep your mouth watering.

Kelly Larson, one of the owners of Skoops, Sweet Temptations, and Front Porch, said one of the most requested items is the traditional ice cream cone.

The most popular flavors include vanilla, mint chocolate chip, birthday cake, butter pecan, moose tracks, brownie batter along with blue moon and Superman. Who doesn’t like Superman?

You’ve got a five-minute vacation from what’s going on,” Larson said, describing the ultimate ice cream experience.

Aside from ice cream cones, there are a variety of types of icy options available all around town and up and down the Grand Haven Boardwalk – from flurries, sundaes, hard or soft serve, sherbet, sorbet to frozen yogurt.

All we need is good weather,” said Dorothy Wheat, owner of Miss Lisa’s in Ferrysburg.
