It just wouldn’t be the holidays without the twinkle of colored lights draped across homes and trees in the Tri-Cities area.
Area residents can kick off the holiday season Nov. 15 with Grand Haven Light Night in downtown Grand Haven.
The event, from 5-9 p.m., will feature Christmas carolers and treats from downtown merchants.
There’s nothing like the soft glow of lights through the snow as the season progresses.
A favorite area to view holiday decorations is in the older part of Grand Haven including Sheldon Street and Lake Avenue.
Neighbors vie for attention in Grand Haven Township’s Forest Park, in the area of Ferris Street and 152nd Avenue, and Holiday Hills in Ferrysburg and Spring Lake Township.
Heading down Lakeshore Drive to Holland, or taking West Spring Lake Road and Fruitport Road around Spring Lake also provide nice evening rides with holiday color popping out from house to house.
There will also be plenty of holiday lights at the Jingle Bell Parade on Dec. 7 in downtown Grand Haven. Pack your hats and mittens, however, as the parade route is lengthy and the temperatures can get nippy.
