Two parades will make the milestone of 100 years of Coast Guard aviation a celebratory matter.

The Kids’ Parade, is Saturday, July 30, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on the corner of fifth and Franklin streets in downtown Grand Haven. The “Soaring Aviators” themed procession will feature:PARADE2

  • 5,000 people in the audience
  • 1,000 hot dogs served 35 entries
  • 7 superheroes
  • 6 lost children, on average
  • 4 Disney princesses
  • 1 hour of fun

The Coast Guard Grand Parade takes place the following Saturday, Aug. 6. The parade will begin at 11:45 a.m., but it is recommended to stake out a spot early on to get the best view of the two-hour-long show.

This parade features:

  • 200,000 people in attendance
  • 500 Coast Guard families hosted
  • 140 entries
  • 96-year-old Coast Guard veteran
  • 75 cars and trucks
  • 50 Coast Guard officials honored
  • 40 floats
  • 13 musical entries
  • 1 Coast Guard astronaut
  • 1 nationally famous superdog, Piper
