Summer sounds abound

Music lovers have plenty of options to fill their evenings with a variety of musical acts this summer.

The options range from quaint weekly concerts in parks to bustling weekend-long concert events.

SOUNDS OF SUMMER

Concerts are held Tuesdays in Bolt Park and Wednesdays at Pottawattomie Park, beginning in mid-June and running through early August. Both concert series are free and run from 7-8:30 p.m. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket for these free concerts.

Bolt Park concerts take place each Tuesday starting June 13 and wrapping up Aug. 8 (no concert on July 4). Shows are presented by 103.5 WAWL.

Pottawattomie Park concerts are held Wednesdays from June 14 through Aug. 2 and are presented by Walk the Beat.

TUESDAYS IN THE PARK

Tuesdays in the Park concerts begin June 13 and run through Aug. 15 (no concert on July 4) at Grand Haven’s Central Park. Presented by WGHN-FM, the concerts are free and run from 7-8:30 p.m. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket for these free concerts. Vendors will offer various food choices.

MUSIC AT THE POINT

Mill Point Park in Spring Lake hosts its annual Music at the Point concert series on Thursdays beginning June 22 and running through Aug. 31. Concerts run from 7-8:30 p.m. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket. All shows are free.

WORSHIP ON THE WATERFRONT

This musical worship series takes place each Sunday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Waterfront Stadium in downtown Grand Haven. The season begins on June 25 and continues through Aug. 27. No tickets are required and the events are free. For more information, visit worshiponthewaterfront.org.

PIN DROP CONCERT SERIES

Concerts are held at Seven Steps Up in Spring Lake. This is an indoor venue, offering an eclectic mix of talented musicians. For pricing and a full calendar of acts, visit pindropconcerts.com.

COAST GUARD FESTIVAL CONCERTS

This year’s festival features bands paying tribute to Stevie Wonder, Journey, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Elton John and Billy Joel, along with Festival Idol and the Lakeshore Big Band. For information and ticket prices, visit www.coastguardfest.org.

WALK THE BEAT

This bustling music festival takes place Saturday, Aug. 19, from 1-5 p.m. A total of 60 musical acts will fill 30 venues across Grand Haven. More than $20,000 worth of prizes will be given away to those who attend. For more information, visit www.walkthebeat.org.

UNITY CHRISTIAN MUSIC FESTIVAL

More than a dozen Christian music acts will perform at this year’s event, which will run from Aug. 9-12 in Muskegon.  For more information, visit unitymusicfestival.com.

IRISH MUSIC FEST

The Michigan Irish Music Festival takes place Sept. 14-17 in Muskegon. The festival promotes Irish culture and heritage. For more information, visit www.michiganirish.org.

HOLLAND SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
