Don’t worry – we have you covered. The best of the best is judged each year in the Tri-Cities area during the People’s Choice contest.

Thousands of votes were cast for the best of everything from best beer to best charter boat captain. Below you’ll find some the highlights of the winners. For the rest of the winners, visit peopleschoice.grandhaventribune.com.

Best Fitness Center: Spring Lake Aquatic & Fitness Center, Spring Lake. Offers daily and seasonal passes for visitors and residents to its indoor water park and workout center.

Best Gift Shop: Di’s Hallmark in Grand Haven, followed closely by Calico Cat in downtown Grand Haven.

Best Hotel/Motel: Holiday Inn in Spring Lake, which boasts glorious sunrise water views.

Best Bed & Breakfast: Harbor House Inn, followed by the Boyden House. Both inns are in Grand Haven and offer beautiful rooms within walking distance to all of the great attractions of the city.

Best Fishing Boat & Captain: Hands down Willis Kerridge of Thunderduck Charters in Grand Haven won this honor. He’s been charter fishing for 35 years.

Best Antique Store: West Michigan Antique Mall in Grand Haven. One customer wrote, “I could spends days in this wonderful antique mall.”

Best Apparel Shop: Earth’s Edge in downtown Grand Haven has all of the cool gear and clothing you want.

Best Golf Course: Grand Haven Golf Club is named one of America’s top 50 public golf courses by Golf Digest. Locals love it, too.

Best Coffeehouse: Jumpin’ Java in downtown Grand Haven. Yum.

Best Patio or Deck Dining: Snug Harbor in Grand Haven has the best view of boats coming in and out of the channel.

Best Healthy Menu: The Morning Star Café on Washington between U.S. 31 and downtown Grand Haven takes top honors in this category. Try the tree hugger or dried cherry almond pancakes. Delicious.

Best Beer Selection: Old Boys’ Brewhouse offers great beer and a view of the river in Spring Lake, while Odd Side Ales in downtown Grand Haven offers brews with some Jenga and darts on the side.

Best Happy Hour: The Kirby House in downtown Grand Haven has $1.99 Happy Hour specials and a jazzy ambience.

Best Burger and Fries: Rays Drive-In on U.S. 31 in Grand Haven takes the cake in both of these categories with their old-fashioned appeal.

Best Ice Cream Hangout: Miss Lisa’s in Ferrysburg offers incredible sundaes, specialty flavors, all served up with a smile.
